Ethyl remembers: The Go Getters
When I was growing up in rural MS. we had a certain class of men we referred to as 'go getter's'. Every weekday morning these men would bring their wives to work at either the shirt factor or the shoe factor and then hang around downtown Iuka all day gossiping with other old men in the same group, then at three thirty or four o'clock they would go get her. Someone once suggested these men should form their own group. When some one asked me what I thought of a club for this particular group of men I replied, "Oh, I think it is a great idea.. but as timid and browbeaten as most of their wives are, they would never have the nerve to use it on them, anyway.
